ICTP Celebrates Diploma Programme Graduates

Some 43 young scientists from 26 countries graduated from ICTP's Postgraduate Diploma Programme during a ceremony held at ICTP on Friday 26 August. As a result of their ICTP studies, many of the students have been accepted to doctoral or master's programmes at top universities around the world; others will return to their home countries to share their knowledge with colleagues and students. The event included a keynote lecture by ICTP Dirac Medallist Dam Thanh Son on "Particles and Quasiparticles: Between Particle and Condensed Matter Physics". The ceremony and lecture were recorded and can be viewed on ICTP's YouTube channel.

Meet ICTP's Diploma Graduates: Johann Sebastian Quenta Raygada

One of the latest students to join the esteemed ranks of Diploma graduates is Johann Sebastian Quenta Raygada of Peru. Thanks to the research experience he gained through the Postgraduate Diploma Programme, under the steady guidance of ICTP mathematical physicist Pavel Putrov, Johann was accepted to a master's programme at the University of Burgundy in France. In an interview, he talks about his life-long attraction to science and shares his dreams for a career in academia. Read more...

Fun and Games at ICTP

In what has become a popular, much anticipated social event at ICTP, the annual Table Tennis Tournament was organised from 18 to 21 July, bringing together more than 45 participants from all ICTP sections, including Diploma, masters and PhD students, postdocs, and ICTP staff in a series of friendly matches in singles and doubles categories. “Social events that bring the ICTP community together sharing similar hobbies are incredibly empowering, motivating and always useful,” said ICTP Director Atish Dabholkar, a skilled player who took third place in the singles category.
