![]() 2025 Salam Distinguished Lectures SeriesThe 2025 Salam Distinguished Lecture Series took place on 27 and 28 January with a series of three talks by Aleksandra Walczak, a professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. The theme of her series was "Prediction in immune repertoires: learning rules in a self-organised mess"; her lectures focused on immune repertoires, which provide a unique fingerprint reflecting the immune history of individuals, with potential applications in precision medicine. ![]() Altermagnets, a New Magnetic PhaseRafael Gonzalez Hernandez, the winner of the 2024 Walter Kohn Prize awarded by ICTP and the Quantum ESPRESSO Foundation, was honoured at a ceremony at ICTP in January. He lectured on his ground-breaking work on altermagnetism, an unconventional magnetic state of matter that has been highlighted as one of the most important discoveries of the past few years. ![]() ICTP Global Science Portal Reaches 800 usersICTP recently launched the world’s first global community platform for physicists and mathematicians to support its scientists in a safe, inclusive online space. The ICTP Global Science Portal allows all past and present members of the ICTP family to stay connected to the institute and each other. The Portal works on all mobile and desktop devices and features personal profile pages, a live feed for sharing research updates and opportunities, direct messaging, groups for each research section with discussion forums, a map-based people search tool, news, events listings and soon, dedicated media centres for each Group.
