The Return of El Niño

Scientists across the world have predicted a strong El Niño event in 2023. How long have El Niño events been going on, and how were they measured in the past? In an interview, ICTP climate scientists Fred Kucharski and Adnan Abid of the Centre's Earth System Physics section discuss the history of El Niño observations. Read more ...

ICTP, SISSA Renew Strategic Research Collaborations

How can the powers of Artificial Intelligence be harnessed for new scientific discoveries? In what ways could quantum technologies, with their promises of speedier and more complex computing--change our world? ICTP and SISSA are joining forces to investigate these questions and more. The two institutes have signed a five-year agreement to conduct joint research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science, and in quantum technology. They will also continue their collaboration with the joint Masters in High Performance Computing programme. Read more ...
