UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany Visits ICTP

The new Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany, paid an official visit to ICTP on Monday 8 June. Coming just a few months after his appointment, El-Enany’s visit highlights the role that science plays in his vision for the future of UNESCO. "Sciences are at the heart of every society and vital for tackling the challenges the world faces today – this is why scientific progress must benefit everyone," said El-Enany in remarks to ICTP staff. ICTP and Trieste Public Enjoy Salam Centennial Stage Performance

As part of Abdus Salam’s centennial celebrations, ICTP hosted a public performance of the play ‘The Trial of Abdus Salam’. The play is an imagined courtroom drama written and directed by Nilanjan P. Choudhury, which explores the trials, the triumphs, the genius and faith of one of the greatest scientific figures to have emerged from Asia. See photos of the event on ICTP's Flickr page. Dirac Medalists Unite in Support of ICTP 2.0

The global community of Dirac Medalists is rallying behind ICTP's ambitious ICTP 2.0 campaign: earlier this year as part of the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of ICTP's most prestigious scientific award, a group of distinguished Dirac Medalists launched a special appeal to fellow recipients of the award, inviting them to support the campaign. ICTP Global Science Portal hosts hybrid Associates Seminars

The ICTP Global Science Portal provides a place to connect with other members of the worldwide ICTP community. With this in mind, the Portal and ICTP's Associates Office launched a series of hybrid seminars highlighting the lives and research of ICTP Associates. These are informal events that span both the personal and professional lives of the speakers. The talks are of a level accessible to all scientists, to connect with people across different scientific fields, and give those in the ICTP family a glimpse of their working life. Read more ...
