ICTP Celebrating 60 Years of Science Without Borders

ICTP is a science institute with a unique history and mission. Founded in 1964, ICTP has grown to be the pre-eminent theoretical physics hub for scientists from around the world -- especially those from disadvantaged countries -- to recharge their knowledge, to make new research connections and to access valuable resources not available in their home countries. Now, six decades later, the Centre celebrates an important milestone: on 15 November it will hold its 60th anniversary event, featuring panel discussions on topics at the frontiers of science. Join the ICTP Global Science Portal

ICTP celebrates its 60th birthday by launching a dynamic online platform to connect, consolidate and expand its scientific community. The new ICTP Global Science Portal allows all members of the ICTP family, past and present, to maintain their links to the institute and each other. The Portal can be used on mobile and desktop devices, providing users with personal profile pages, a live feed for sharing research updates and opportunities, direct messaging, groups for each research section with discussion forums, a map-based people searching tool, news, and events listings. Anyone with a past or present affiliation with ICTP is eligible for lifetime membership to the Portal, and can Request to Join on the Portal homepage. Join us!


From Dirac Medallists to Nobel Laureates

It is not difficult to imagine that an ICTP Dirac Medallist could become a future Nobel laureate. After all, ICTP's top physics prize rewards some of the world's most eminent physicists for their groundbreaking work. ICTP Researchers Elected to Accademia dei Lincei

The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is among the oldest scientific academies in Europe and Italy’s most prestigious cultural institutions. It aims to promote science and culture in their highest expression. Every year, new members are elected to the academy to help advance its mission. This year’s new cohort includes two ICTP researchers: scientist emeritus Filippo Giorgi of the Earth System Physics section, and Don Zagier, holder of the Ramanujan International Chair in Mathematics. Short-term Visits, High Energy, Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics section

The HECAP section offers a number of grants for short-term visits to take place in 2025. The purpose of the visits is to perform theoretical studies in HECAP's areas of expertise and in close interaction with the section's resident staff and visiting scientists.
