Spirit of Salam Prize Ceremony

ICTP honoured the three awardees of the 2022 Spirit of Abdus Salam Award at a ceremony held on 22 September. The 2022 recipients were: Malik Maaza, "for his major role in helping to shape Africa's science and technology landscape, on top of his own prolific research output with which he has trained over a hundred young African students, as well as a number from other areas in the South"; Concetta Mosca, "for her profound commitment to supporting the Diploma Programme during its first years and, more so, for her exceptional moral support of the students"; and Adnan Shihab-Eldin, "for his unwavering, long-time support of ICTP's mission and his exceptional advocacy of ICTP to major donors such as Kuwait, OPEC funds, the Islamic Bank, the Kuwait Petroleum Company, the Kuwait Funds, and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development."

Meet ICTP's Diploma Graduates: Kadja Flore Gali

Kadja Flore Gali, an atmospheric physics student from Chad, is among the latest Postgraduate Diploma Programme alumni on track to becoming another Diploma success story. After a year of intense study at ICTP, she has been accepted to a PhD programme in the United States, but her ultimate goal is to return home to put her acquired skills to good use. Her dream is to establish the roots of a blossoming research community in the field of atmospheric physics in her home country. In an interview with ICTP, Kadja talks about how she got interested in studying atmospheric physics, and how she hopes that her year at ICTP will give her an opportunity to pursue a successful career in science. Meet ICTP's Diploma Graduates: Kristian Pajanonot

Kristian Pajanonot, a student from the Philippines with a keen interest in biophysics, is among the latest Diploma alumni to see the advantages of completing the programme: she was accepted to two graduate programmes and has chosen to continue her path towards a master's and doctoral degree at Max Planck School (Matter to Life) in Germany. In an interview, she shares how her study and work experience have shaped her interest in physics, and how her year at ICTP taught her invaluable study skills that will ensure her success at the doctoral level and beyond.
